The most broadly supported ideas will be discussed by a representative group of Coloradans residents in a type of meeting called a deliberation. The solutions that emerge from that discussion will be delivered to the governor and other state and local elected leaders.

Unifying ideas are those that receive broad support across people with different backgrounds and political viewpoints. We use statistical methods to identify which ideas bring people together rather than divide them.

We encourage you to vote on lots of ideas to see what others in your state want to change about your political system. Each person gets one vote per idea.

We offer a stipend to participants because meaningful participation takes time, preparation, and focused attention. In some communities and states, unpaid civic meetings can risk reflecting those who have the most flexibility to show up. Offering a stipend helps make participation feasible for residents with different schedules, responsibilities, and life circumstances. The stipend is the same for all participants and is not tied to opinions, agreement, or outcomes.

Coloradans are voting in the November election this fall. As people participate in our elections, we're seeking to surface input from across the state to improve our democracy with ideas that unify Coloradans across differences.

Courageous Colorado is a cross-partisan initiative working to transform the state’s political landscape by 2030, fostering citizen activation and advancing community-driven change to reduce partisan divides, increase representation, and build a forward-looking reform agenda that brings our state together.

Results of phase I will be shared at the Democracy Summit hosted by the Colorado State University’s Strayer Institute on October 26th. Results of phase II will be shared in Colorado Springs on November 12th during a Courageous Colorado convening at the El Pomar Foundation with their 60+ coalition members and numerous community leaders.
